BTE Renewables has announced that its sale to Engie and Meridiam has reached completion. Engie has acquired BTE Renewables’ South African operations, while Meridiam has acquired its Kenyan operations. Both Engie and Meridiam acquired BTE Renewables from its previous owner, Actis.
Actis established the pan-African renewable energy platform, BTE Renewables, in 2017, with the acquisition of the Kipeto wind project in Kenya in the development stage.
BTE targets the pan-African region, focused primarily on utility scale wind and solar projects. The platform is currently composed of operating projects in South Africa and in Kenya.
