Private equity firm Amethis has announced the appointment of Muhummud Sheik as an investment manager in its new South African office.
Sheik and investment director Marieke Geurts will be leading Amethis' South African transactions.
Sheik is an experienced M&A professional with over eight years experience, most recently as an associate director in the investment banking division at Standard Chartered Bank in London. His experience spans both buy-side and sell-side mandates across sectors including consumer goods, energy, mining, infrastructure and renewables.
Sheik commented: “I’m excited to join Amethis and be part of a team that shares a long-term commitment to building and scaling businesses across Africa. After several years advising on transactions across the continent, I’m looking forward to taking a more hands-on role as an investor. It’s especially encouraging to join a firm that, as an international investor, is bullish on South Africa and sees real opportunity in partnering with local businesses to drive growth.”
