Bowmans: Financing Africa’s energy transition in an equitable way
Since November 2021, when COP26 was held in Glasgow, Scotland, an air of optimism has entered the debate on how funding can be mobilised for Africa’s energy transition.
For the most part, funding for sustainable development initiatives on the continent has been limited to foreign debt and development finance loans that often carry burdensome conditions and repayment terms.
Indications are that options for funding on the African continent are broadening considerably.
