Lars Krogsgaard has again been hired as the chief investment officer (CIO) of the Danish development finance institution IFU. He will take up the position on 1 April 2024 and become member of IFU’s executive management group together with Deputy CEO Søren Peter Andreasen, who is acting CEO until Lars Bo Bertram will take up the role as IFU’s new CEO on 1 June 2024.
Krogsgaard was previously IFU’s CIO for a three-year period between 2019 and 2022, where he spearheaded a significant transformation of IFU’s investment strategy and investment process.
Michael Rasmussen, chairman of IFU’s board, commented: “We are pleased that Lars Krogsgaard has agreed to return to IFU, where he has already proven his remarkable qualities as an investor. His appointment completes IFU’s new three-member executive management group, which is now very well positioned to seize the new opportunities that have opened for IFU with additional funding from the state and with investment partners in a new SDG fund II.”
Last year, the Danish government announced a major plan to boost IFU, empowering the Danish development finance institution to more than double its investment activities in emerging markets and developing countries by 2030. Major focus areas of the plan include investments in climate, Africa, and poor and fragile countries. IFU has also launched the fundraising for a Danish SDG Investment Fund II.
Krogsgaard added: “I am thrilled to pick up the torch again to take part in IFU’s continuing development as a leading impact investor in emerging markets, with strong backing from IFU’s owner and stakeholders, as part of a strong management team, and together with a group of dedicated investment professionals that I highly admire.”
