Digital Africa, a subsidiary of the French development finance institution Proparco, has launched a €30 million seed fund aimed at plugging a financing gap for early-stage technology companies operating across the continent.
The DA Seed Fund, a 10-year closed-end vehicle with a hard cap of €50 million, is designed to back startups that have outgrown initial angel funding but lack the traction required by institutional investors.
The fund will target 30 tech-enabled startups across 20 priority African countries. With an average initial ticket size of €300,000, the capital is earmarked for concrete milestones that shift a company’s trajectory, such as market expansion tests, executive hires, compliance steps, and product iteration.
