E Squared Investments has invested into the Old Mutual South Africa Private Equity Fund VI, its first private equity fund investment and part of its fund of funds strategy.
E Squared is a South African impact investor that operates in the venture capital and private equity sector.
The firm described the investment as a deliberate step to anchor the later end of its risk curve. This will create a source of distributions to recycle into the early-stage, catalytic investments central to its mandate, while aligning with its broader goal of delivering both financial returns and developmental impact.
“What stood out to us was OMPE’s ability to identify high-quality businesses that are both commercially resilient and capable of delivering meaningful developmental impact. Their investments demonstrate how private equity can create lasting value by strengthening skills, expanding access to employment, and generating attractive returns for investors,” commented Yasthira Ramdenee, head of growth investments at E Squared.
