Renew Capital has announced an investment in Ethiopia-based Beemi, a platform that helps Africa’s mobile-first creators make their livestreams more interactive and profitable through gamified tools and live interaction.
The platform integrates social games like trivia into livestreaming platforms including TikTok, YouTube and Twitch, giving creators simple tools to engage their audiences and drive real-time participation.
Unlike traditional tools built for PC-based streamers, Beemi is optimised for mobile. Streamers can launch games directly within their live sessions, enticing followers to stay longer, return more often and actively participate. It’s also a win for monetisation with Beemi piloting branded ad integrations, creator subscriptions and a marketplace of streamable games.
“At Beemi, we’re focused on helping streamers grow and earn by making their content more interactive,” said Dawit Abraham, co-founder and CEO of Beemi. “When audiences feel involved, they stay longer, come back more often and support the creators they love.”
“Beemi is unlocking a new layer of value in livestreaming,” said Adam Abate, principal for investment management at Renew Capital. “Their value proposition and early results are clear and compelling, and Beemi’s team comes with rich experience and dedication to the problem they are trying to solve.”
With support from Renew Capital, Beemi plans to expand its platform and launch its marketplace while growing new partnerships with creators and brands.
