The European Investment Bank (EIB) has disclosed a proposed $30 million investment in the Alta Semper Growth Fund II, managed by Alta Semper Capital, a frontier-markets private equity firm.
Alta Semper was founded in 2015 by Afsane Jetha, who is the managing partner and CEO, alongside Ronald Lauder (chairman of Clinique) and Richard Parsons (former CEO of Time Warner).
Alta Semper Growth Fund II will invest in local pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in North Africa (Egypt and Morocco), and to a lesser extent, in sub-Saharan Africa.
The fund has a target size of $150 million.
