FMO Investment Management appoints new MD
Nic Wessemius has been appointed as managing director of FMO Investment Management (FMO IM), FMO’s wholly owned investment firm, which provides investors access to FMO’s deal flow.
Wessemius co-established FMO IM with former managing director Yvonne Bakkum in late 2012, and developed it into an investment firm in 2015. In little over a decade, FMO IM invested well over $1 billion for institutional and private investors.
Since 2012, Wessemius was responsible for business development and investment solutions for FMO IM.
Huib-Jan de Ruijter, co-chief investment officer FMO, said: “We are very happy that Nic, as one of the founding members, has accepted the role of managing director of FMO Investment Management. We are fully confident that he will be able continue to attract more private capital to invest alongside FMO in support of the SDGs. He has been a vital part in building this successful new line of impactful business for FMO.”
Wessemius commented, “It is a great honour to take over the role as managing director of FMO Investment Management. Over the past decade we have built a solid foundation to scale up impact investing for a wide range of investors, generating attractive impact, risk and return. Building on FMO’s experience we intend to grow our portfolios in the near future. The SDGs require trillions of investments each year and while we are not able to service that much capital ourselves, we are very capable of mobilising from millions to billions by leveraging FMO’s progression model.”
