The International Finance Corporation has disclosed a proposed equity investment of up to $15 million into the Catalyst MENA Climate Fund II, a new vehicle by Catalyst Investment Management.
Catalyst Investment Management focuses exclusively on renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy- and water-technology investments in the Middle East and North African region.
The new fund would be the firm’s second, following its 2016 clean-energy vehicle, Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund I, which raised $57 million. Catalyst MENA Climate Fund II is targeting between $150 million and $200 million, with a first close of up to $85 million expected by the end of December 2025.
The fund will invest in climate-mitigation and adaptation projects, including renewable power, energy storage, energy-efficiency solutions and water-related infrastructure across the Middle East and North Africa, with a primary focus on Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.
