The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has disclosed a proposed equity investment of up to $6 million in Catalyst Fund, a venture capital vehicle targeting $40 million.
The fund will make pre-seed and seed-stage investments in climate-tech companies across Africa.
Managed by Catalyst Impact Partners, the fund focuses on three areas: fintech for climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and climate-smart essential services. Its planned geographic reach includes Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, and Uganda.
