Impact fund makes agribusiness investment in Madagascar
The I&P Afrique Entrepreneurs 2 (IPAE 2) fund, managed by Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P), has invested in Soafiary, a Malagasy company operating in the agro-food sector.
Founded in 2006 by the Malagasy promoter Malala Rabenoro, Soafiary is specialised in the sourcing, processing and commercialisation of cereals (maize, rice) and leguminous plants (beans, cape peas, lentils, soybeans).
Soafiary is the first investment of the IPAE 2 fund in Madagascar, a country where I&P has been operating since 2008 and now has eight portfolio companies, including the microfinance institution ACEP Madagascar, the social enterprise Nutri’Zaza and the food processing company Scrimad.
