Launch Africa Ventures has announced investment in Solarbox Africa.
By locally assembling utility electric vehicles (EVs) in Senegal and deploying a network of solar-powered EV charging stations, Solarbox enables customers to significantly reduce transportation fuel costs. The company’s solution includes solar energy generation, utility electric vehicles (two and three wheelers), and software for system management, addressing the continent's energy and transportation challenges.
Launch Africa Ventures said in a statement: “Solarbox presents a compelling opportunity to support an industry-defining company in Africa's electric mobility sector. Their integrated, locally adapted solution spans vehicles, energy, and software, addressing key ecosystem challenges and accelerating adoption. By employing a B2B strategy, Solarbox facilitates easy market entry without requiring pre-existing infrastructure, as charging points can be installed at customer locations. The founding team boasts strong entrepreneurial experience in Africa and a well-rounded mix of skills across engineering, sales, and operations. Their early commercial traction is highly promising, indicating significant potential for growth.”
