1. South Africa: RMB Corvest and Alito Fund 2 acquire stake in Packaging World

RMB Corvest and Alito Fund 2 have partnered to acquire a majority stake in Packaging World, a South African manufacturer of flexible plastic packaging. Founded in 1995 by Dean Gianni, Packaging World is a supplier of specialised flexible packaging solutions – including reels, bags and pouches – primarily to the FMCG food sector.

2. Aruwa Capital makes follow-on investment in Nigerian footwear company

Aruwa Capital Management has announced a follow-on investment into Yikodeen, a Nigerian manufacturer of industrial safety footwear. Aruwa was the sole investor in the round and completed the investment from its sophomore fund, Aruwa Capital Fund II.

3. Alterra Capital takes stake in Johannesburg-based Cobra Group

Alterra Capital Partners has invested in Cobra Group Holdings, joining the founder and chief executive in backing the company’s expansion in Africa and further afield. Founded in Johannesburg in 1986, Cobra designs and manufactures customised mining support and firefighting vehicles in Africa, and is also a producer of heavy-duty hose reels.

4. SPE Capital, Amethis in manufacturing deal

A consortium of investors – including SPE Capital, through its SPE PEF III fund, Proparco, and Amethis via its MENA Fund II – has invested in Delta Holdings, an Egypt-based manufacturer of specialty additives for the paint and coatings industry. The investment will support Delta Holdings in broadening its product offering and accelerating its export-oriented initiatives.

5. Growth Investment Partners Ghana backs automotive parts manufacturer

Growth Investment Partners (GIP) Ghana, an investment platform established by British International Investment, has announced an investment in Springs and Bolts Company (SBCL), a Kumasi-based manufacturer of automotive aftermarket components. The investment will finance the acquisition of a fully automated leaf spring production line, enabling SBCL to expand production capacity from four to 12 tonnes per day.
