Impact investment firm Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) has backed the launch of Fako Capital, an investment vehicle based in Cameroon and the eighth fund sponsored by I&P Développement.
Fako Capital, managed by Vivian Tchatchueng, a former investment director at I&P, seeks to address two key challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cameroon and Central Africa: securing financing tailored to their growth needs and receiving the support required to structure their operations effectively.
The firm focuses on SMEs across a range of sectors with significant growth potential and a capacity for financial sustainability. Its investments prioritise businesses that promote women’s financial and social inclusion, generate formal employment opportunities for young people, and contribute to broader economic and social development within the region.
"Over the mid-term, we plan to finance around 50 SME businesses, 80% of which will meet the criteria for financial and social inclusion of women, will be able to create around 1,000 formal jobs for young people, and will offer our investors a double financial and social return," says Tchatchueng.
