NjiaPay, a South Africa-based payments company, has closed a $2.1 million seed funding round.
The round was led by Newion, a European venture capital firm, with further participation from Adyen, Payaut and Uber.
“From our very first meeting, we’ve been extremely impressed by the team at Newion. Their commitment and effort to truly understand the South African payments landscape have been world-class. Roderick Simons and I especially value the time they’ve invested in us as a founding team, and their alignment with our long-term vision for the continent,” commented Jonatan Allback, CEO and co-founder of NjiaPay.
