Norsad Capital recognised internationally as leader in ESG investing
Affirming the role that debt provider and impact investor Norsad Capital has defined for itself, namely to build a better Africa, Reuters Events recently acknowledged the company as a champion in the ESG space. At the Reuters Events Responsible Business Awards, held recently, Norsad Capital was announced as the leading firm in the category for ESG Investment – Social Leadership of the Year. In addition to this win, Norsad was also shortlisted as one of eight finalists for the Responsible Investor of the Year category for the company’s commitment to building a better Africa.
According to Kenny Nwosu, CEO of Norsad Capital, “We are particularly proud to have been recognised for our efforts by such a respected international business organisation as Reuters. Considering that we found ourselves pitted against businesses from across the globe – including those from the strong economies of Europe and North America – it is certainly a great achievement for Norsad!”
Norsad Capital has committed itself to positively impact the lives of 100 million people on the continent of Africa by 2030. The event judges commented on this, and celebrated the focus on Africa, where there is so much need for positive change.
“The judges appreciated that our approach is to drive positive change over time,” Nwosu comments, referring to the judges’ acknowledgement that the Norsad approach is geared to take place over a long duration in order to be meaningful. “Achieving our goals means that we work together with various organisations, all of whom share our views on sustainability and our focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” Nwosu adds. Norsad also has other sustainability initiatives like the 2X Challenge and the Boardroom Africa – both of which are geared to promote women in business – at the centre of its attention.
The company is a debt provider, offering funding to businesses across sub-Saharan Africa in high-impact economic sectors. Nwosu explains that, “Norsad looks to the future, and unlocks new opportunities. Core to our business model and impact strategy is that we form partnerships with like-minded organisations. As social leaders and impact investors, we work closely with our clients to gain their trust and understanding to ensure we have their buy-in and commitment to Norsad’s responsible investing and impact agendas. Without the buy-in and commitment of our clients, Norsad would not be able to achieve the positive impact we envision, nor would we be able to support our aspirational target of impacting 100 million lives by 2030.”
Nwosu concludes by saying, “This award shines a spotlight on our achievements to date, and also demonstrates our continued support and focus on driving real change and achieving positive social outcomes in Africa. Our achievements during 2021 and 2022 highlight the fact that we are making strides towards the achievement of our goals.”
