North African healthcare platform in line for equity deal with European DFI
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has disclosed a potential equity investment of up to $25 million in Humania North Africa, a healthcare platform focused on hospitals and clinics in the region.
Humania is a holding company, established by healthcare operator Bait Al Batterjee Medical Company, with the purpose of building and operating general hospitals in Egypt and Morocco.
The project is expected to lead to improved quality of services and seek a reputable internationally recognised certification for each of the hospitals. The company also plans to establish new degree-level nursing training programmes in order to address skills mismatch and labour shortages in Egypt and Morocco.
