Renew Capital backs Kenya-based transport platform

Renew Capital has invested in BuuPass, a Kenya-based tech company that provides a web-based travel solution aimed at making long-distance transportation more accessible and seamless in sub-Saharan Africa.

Before BuuPass, most bus users in East Africa had to go to a bus station to purchase their tickets, which were still being processed on pen and paper. The BuuPass platform allows them to buy tickets online in real time.

With subsidiaries in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, BuuPass’ B2C platform now processes more than 10,000 bookings per day for bus, flight and train transportation for travelers. It recently added personal and business parcel distribution through its bus network.
