ShEquity makes investment in Kenyan insect protein company
Investment firm ShEquity has announced an investment in Ecodudu Limited, a Kenyan waste-to-value company.
Ecodudu uses a proprietary innovation to recycle organic waste into high-protein animal feed and organic fertiliser using the black soldier fly. The business harnesses insects (nature’s recycling agents) to address global issues which include waste management, demand for protein and environmental conservation.
“We created a groundbreaking product for an underserved market that resonated with our consumers. Ecodudu brought awareness on how to get protein inputs to market in a sustainable manner. Lastly it didn’t hurt that we secured a partnership with a leading animal feed manufacturer, which activated national exposure for our brand … This ShEquity investment is just the start, and it will help Ecodudu reach its full potential by taking our business to the next level,” said Starlin Farah, co-founder and COO, Ecodudu.
