Amethis, Proparco, ccap.ai and management have completed their investment in Vertice MedTech Holdings.
Founded in 2018 by a management group led by Hendri Pretorius, in partnership with Ethos Private Equity, Vertice has established itself as an independent distributor of specialised medical devices and a provider of healthcare software and mobile healthcare solutions in Southern Africa.
Vertice operates through two business lines: Vertice Healthcare, focused on specialised medical devices, and Vertice Software, which develops digital health solutions.
ccap.ai is the private investment vehicle founded by Nic Kohler, Willem Roos, Michael Jordaan and Roger Grobler. It invests in businesses that gain advantages from data-driven decision-making and advanced technology, including AI-enabled models.
Marieke Geurts, managing director at Amethis South Africa, commented: “We are delighted to partner with Vertice and its management team to support the company’s next stage of growth. Vertice has built a unique platform at the intersection of medical devices and digital health, two critical pillars for improving access to quality healthcare in South Africa and beyond. This investment aligns with our strategy of backing high-growth businesses that combine strong financial performance with meaningful impact.”
Tibor Asboth, head of private equity Africa at Proparco added: “Proparco is pleased to invest alongside Amethis, a trusted long-term partner, ccap.ai and management, to support Vertice in its next phase of growth. As a leading platform in medical technology and digital health, Vertice plays an important role in strengthening healthcare systems and expanding access to quality care in Southern Africa. This investment fully reflects Proparco’s commitment to supporting high-impact businesses that contribute to sustainable development across the continent.”
Willem Roos, partner at ccap.ai said: “We are excited to continue supporting Vertice, as it represents the type of high-quality, data-driven platform we seek to back, combining strong execution with significant potential to harness technology across the healthcare value chain. We believe technology will play a transformative role in improving access, efficiency and patient outcomes, particularly in underserved markets. Together with our partners, we look forward to supporting Vertice’s management team in scaling a business that not only delivers strong growth, but also contributes meaningfully to the evolution of healthcare systems.”
