The Vumela Fund, managed by Edge Growth, has invested in Cape Town-based fresh produce exporter Iris Fresh. The funding will support operational expenditure and working capital as the business enters its next phase of expansion.
The company sources fruits and vegetables from growers across South Africa and neighbouring countries for international markets.
“This funding marks an important milestone in our journey at Iris Fresh. It allows us to invest in growing the business, unlocking new opportunities, and reinforcing our commitment to building a future-focused agricultural business,” says founder Sandeep Valodia.
“Iris Fresh is led by a highly capable and experienced management team with a strong track record of operational execution and growth. Vumela’s investment will provide critical capital to scale the business, enabling expansion of operations, strengthening market presence, and enhancing supply capabilities,” says Jessica Blake, associate principal at Edge Growth. “The partnership supports a well-run, high-potential business poised for sustainable growth, contributing to job creation and broader economic development.”
