South Africa: PIC gets green light for Alzu Agri investment
South Africa's Competition Commission has recommended that the Tribunal approve a proposed transaction whereby the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), on behalf of the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), intends to acquire Alzu Agri without conditions.
Alzu Agri is a diversified agricultural and agro-processing group which is involved in maize production, animal feed production, and cattle and pig breeding, among others.
The commission found that the proposed transaction is unlikely to result in a substantial prevention or lessening of competition in any relevant markets. The commission further found that the proposed transaction does not raise any public interest concerns.
