Swedfund invests $26m in African infrastructure fund
Swedfund has invested $26 million in the African Infrastructure Investment Fund 4 (AIIF4), managed by African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM). This marks Swedfund’s first investment in broader infrastructure, including more than just clean energy and climate infrastructure.
The fund focuses on energy, digital, and transportation infrastructure in African countries.
”This is a partly new area for Swedfund as it is more than just investments in renewable energy. It is a good way to reach out with investments that create jobs and can also contribute to the climate transition and lead to digital development,” says Maria Håkansson, CEO of Swedfund.
Swedfund’s investment in AIIF4 is made in collaboration with several European development financiers and South African insurance company Old Mutual.
