Zeder exits stake in South African feed and poultry business
South African agribusiness investment company Zeder has sold its 32.1% stake in Quantum Foods, a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed integrated feed and poultry business, to Country Bird Holdings.
Quantum Foods is a diversified feed and poultry business that provides animal protein to selected South African and African markets.
Country Bird Holdings is one of the largest poultry and animal feeds producers in Africa. It was established in South Africa in 2003 and has operations in Botswana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
"The rationale for the disposal has less to do with the investment prospects of Quantum Foods, but rather more with the strategic investment objectives of Zeder," said Zeder in a statement.
